Stamping point 183 / Försterblick Gernrode

The Försterblick is a vantage point above Gernrode with a fantastic view over the town and the Harz foreland.

The resort town of Gernrode lies on the northern edge of the eastern Harz Mountains at the foot of the Stubenberg in a charming hillside location and is particularly famous for its collegiate church of St. Cyriacus, which is over 1000 years old and can be seen from afar. Situated on the Romanesque Road, St. Cyriakus Church is one of the oldest churches in northern Europe, with an almost unchanged building from the Ottonian period.

Gernrode is also home to the Harzer Likör-Manufaktur, which also produces the “Stempelschluck” of the Harzer Wandernadel. The focus of production is on fine liqueurs and fine brandies. These specialties are very popular and are deeply rooted in the region.

From the collegiate church in Gernrode, hike along the Selketalstieg through the Hagental valley and then follow the signposted hiking trail over the Stubenberg to the Försterblick.
