In addition to conventional hiking maps, more and more hikers are also using a GPS device to find their way around the terrain. The GPS device makes it easier for children in particular to get excited about hiking, as technology and adventure are very important to them in their leisure activities.

That is why we want to follow the trend and meet the many requests from hikers for GPS data for the stamp points of the Harzer Wandernadel.

Please understand that we cannot collect all the data ourselves and that this may result in transmission errors. It is therefore possible that the data given may differ from the actual locations of the stamping stations. Information on such deviations or corrected data for these locations is welcome.

Please note:
Risks when hiking with GPS

The great danger lies in relying too much on GPS as an aid.

Please bear in mind on your tours that the battery may run out, reception may become impossible due to the topography or the device may fail due to a mechanical defect. In such cases, you should always take a map and, if necessary, a compass with you, especially on longer hikes.

The accuracy of GPS devices can be limited, especially in the Harz region, due to poor reception caused by the particularly steep position of the targeted satellites, shadowing by cliffs, forests, valleys, etc. and multiple signals due to possible reflections, e.g. on large steep rock faces. This is another reason why it is advisable to take a map with you for additional orientation.
