Stamp point 97 / Ziegenalm Sophienhof

The Ziegenalm is located in the tranquil Harz village of Sophienhof, surrounded by forests, where ducks and geese still chatter on the village pond.

At the goat farm, you can see for yourself how the animals are kept and cared for in a species-appropriate manner, how clean milk is produced and how carefully cheese is made. Children will not only enjoy the fun of the goat lambs, they will also be captivated by the attentive and graceful mother goats. The freely accessible domestic animal facilities at the Ziegenalm are home to woolly pigs, red Harz cattle, donkeys, goats and sheep.

The Ziegenalm’s offer is rounded off by a catered alpine restaurant and a farm store. The Ziegenalm in Sophienhof can be reached via a narrow, signposted access road from the B 81 between Netzkater and Ilfeld.

The first brewery inn in the southern Harz region opened opposite the Ziegenalm in September 2013.
Here you can enjoy Sophienhof beers, brewed according to the German purity law, in a cozy, rustic atmosphere.
