The Steinerne Renne is an approximately 2.5 km long section of the Holtemme valley southwest of the Wernigerode district of Hasserode, which has been designated a natural monument.

Over millions of years, the Holtemme river, which rises from the Brocken massif, has formed a bizarre gorge of granite rock here, in which numerous waterfalls and rapids can be observed.

Above this gorge is the Steinerne Renne inn (520 m above sea level) on a particularly rocky section of the river. The stamp box is located in the entrance area of the inn.

The best starting point for a hike is the Steinerne Renne train station in Hasserode. The most adventurous but also the most arduous path leads past the hydroelectric power station directly through the gorge. Surefootedness is absolutely essential on the upper section of this trail!

Other paths are signposted from Steineren Renne station, e.g. the Bielsteinchaussee or the Hippelhangweg.
