The Elversstein (499 m above sea level) is a vantage point near the Wernigerode district of Hasserode.

On the Elversstein you can enjoy great views of the Harz landscape. It is particularly impressive to see the steam-powered Harzquerbahn train leaving the Thumkuhlental tunnel.
The Elversstein is named after the first district administrator of the Prussian district of Wernigerode, Dr. Johann Friedrich Rudolph Elvers (1825 — 1891). He came to Wernigerode in 1862 and initially worked as a court conductor. In 1864 he was promoted to government and consistorial councillor and entered the service of Count Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode.
The shortest ascent begins in Hasserode on the “Trift” road, following the Elversstein path. The Armeleuteberg inn HWN 35 is also a good starting point for a hike to the Elversstein.
