Stamping point 124 / Köte am Heidestieg

The Köte am Heidenstieg is located in the Schulenberg forest on the edge of the village above Schulenberg.

The old Schulenberg, located in the valley, was once a mining and smelting settlement, later a forest workers’ settlement and sank in the floods of the Oker dam in 1954. The village was rebuilt above the dam on a plateau of the Wiesenberg at an altitude of 500 meters.

From the parking lot on the Tannenhöhe, follow the fitness trail to the Köte on the Heidenstieg. For the way back, we recommend the forest nature trail, from which you have excellent views over the Harz meadows to the Brocken massif, the Bruchberg and the Wolfswarte.

The display boards and carved animal figures along the way provide information about the flora and fauna of the forest and are particularly interesting for families.
