Stamp point 92 / Poppenberg with observation tower

The Poppenberg with the observation tower (601) built by the Harzklub in 1897 is located between Ilfeld and the Hufhaus.

Once you have climbed the 177 steps to the view­ing plat­form, you are reward­ed with a fan­tas­tic panoram­ic view of the Kyffhäuser, Ravens­berg, Wurm­berg and Brock­en. After the tow­er had to be closed in the 1980s due to severe cor­ro­sion dam­age, the Harzk­lub suc­ceed­ed in ren­o­vat­ing the tow­er in 1992 with donations. 

A beau­ti­ful hik­ing trail leads from Ilfeld via the weath­er vane HWN 95 to the sum­mit of the Poppenberg.
