Underground mining with rock and mining machine

In about 75 minutes, you will be shown in a professional and entertaining way the conditions under which the Harz miners extracted the valuable ores until 1970. Via an easily navigable staircase, past the mighty supporting structures of what was once the longest cable car in Europe, you will reach the cable car’s drive system, which is demonstrated by visitor guides along with the other mining equipment located underground.

A geological outcrop that is unique in Europe and reveals different types of rock in the smallest of spaces is a colorful sight. A sight that not only captivates visitors interested in geology. In the mine, you can experience other mining technology in full operation. Overhead loaders, hammer drills and ore scrapers are impressive not only in size and weight, but also in the noise level, which every visitor can experience for themselves. All of these machines are faithfully reproduced from the Büchenberg. The mountain opens up to reveal its treasures in a deep red color. In the middle of the ore, on the mining field, you can marvel at the mighty ore deposits.

From the visitor parking lot, walk past historic mining equipment to the entrance of the show mine. There you will also find the stamp box on the mining nature trail.
