Stamping point 139 / Kuckholzklippe

The 15-metre-high observation tower on the Kuckholzklippe is located between Lerbach and Buntenbock.

The name was apparently derived somewhat inaccurately from a side valley below the cliff, which bears the name „Kuhkolk“, i.e. waterhole for cows.

The observation tower was commissioned by the Harzklub branch clubs from Buntenbock, Clausthal, Lerbach and Osterode and built from steel framework by the Lerbach Royal Ironworks Office for 2,625 Reichsmark, inaugurated on August 1, 1897 and renovated by the Harzklub in 1992.

The tower, which can be reached via 75 steps, was declared a listed building in 1994. From the viewing platform, you have a beautiful view of the Brocken, the „Auf dem Acker“ ridge, Buntenbock, Lerbach and the Harz foreland.

From Buntenbock, you can reach the tower from the hiking parking lot „An der Trift“ and continue the hike to Braunseck HWN 138.

From Lerbach, the „Eisenstein Lehrpfad“ leads over the „Concordia Klippe“ and „Claras Höhe“ to the Kuckholzklippe.
