Stamping point 105 / Prinzenlaube

The Prinzenlaube (558 m above sea level) is located on the Ernst-August-Höhe near Wildemann.

It is so named because Prince Adolph of Hanover and Duke of Cambridge stayed here during his trip to the Upper Harz in November 1814, enjoyed the magnificent view of the small mountain town of Wildemann and was entertained in a “Laube”.

In 1839, on the occasion of the visit of King Ernst-August II, the building was given the appearance of a “Jägerey”. In honor of the king, the hill on which the arbour stood was named “Ernst-August-Höhe”.

Today there is a hiker’s hut modeled on a charcoal burner’s hut belonging to the Wildemann branch of the Harzklub.

You can reach the hut from Wildemann via the signposted “Ernst-August-Stieg”.
