The “Schöne Aussicht Hainrode” stamping station is located between the two villages of Hainrode and Questenberg.
The location is right in the middle of the approx. 30,000-hectare biosphere reserve “Karstlandschaft Südharz” and offers an excellent view of the landscape of the southern Harz as far as the Kyffhäuser.
The Karstlandschaft Südharz biosphere reserve stretches across the southern Harz region in Saxony-Anhalt with extensive beech forests that extend from the Auerberg to the edge of the Goldene Aue and are then replaced by orchards, fields, meadows and pastures. The karst landscape in front of the southern Harz is a unique feature.
Zechstein deposits with highly water-soluble gypsum, anhydrites and salts are exposed here. Karstification has created and continues to create a wide variety of terrain forms, e.g. sinkholes, sinkholes, stream gullies and caves. This bizarre landscape, with its mosaic-like, small-scale structures, provides valuable habitats for a rich variety of flora and fauna and is unique in Europe.
The stamping point can be reached from Hainrode via the hiking trail to the rural community or via the karst hiking trail. From Questenberg, follow the karst hiking trail via Hasselbornschwinde and Dinsterbachschwinde and then follow the signs to the rural community.
