The location station is situated on the Innerste-Rennstieg between Lautenthal and Neuekrug-Hahausen above the Innerste dam.

From the sum­mit, you have a won­der­ful view of the Inner­ste dam and the Brocken.

Neolith­ic and Bronze Age finds prove that the Rennstieg has been used as a com­mu­ni­ca­tion route and for trans­port­ing goods for sev­er­al mil­len­nia. In the 10th cen­tu­ry, the Inner­ste-Rennstieg formed the bound­ary of the for­est belong­ing to Wer­la. The north­ern sec­tion of the Rennstieg runs over the Lageswarte. 

From the Stern­platz park­ing lot, which is locat­ed above Lau­t­en­thal, you can hike to the Lageswarte in con­nec­tion with the Luchsstein HWN 103 and the Tränke­bach­hütte HWN 104.
