Stamp point 31 / Agnesberg

The Agnesberg (395 m above sea level) is located above Wernigerode Castle. From up there, you have a wonderful view of Wernigerode Castle as well as the Brocken.

Around the 10th century, a settlement was established around a lowland castle on what is now Klint. The small clearing settlement soon developed into a market town of regional importance. In 1229, the Counts of Wernigerode granted the town town charter based on the Goslar model. From 1110 to 1120, a count who called himself „Comte des Wernigerothe“ had his castle built on the Agnesberg.

From Wernigerode Castle, you can climb the Agnesberg via the Amalienweg and continue the hike to the Christianental Inn HWN 32.
