It is not known when the fortress was built on the hill. What is cer\u00adtain, how\u00adev\u00ader, is that it was ini\u00adtial\u00adly a&nbsp;wood\u00aden tow\u00ader, which was lat\u00ader replaced by the stone look\u00adout. From here, light and flag sig\u00adnals could be used to alert the Goslar city guards in case of danger.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The tow\u00ader was used for mil\u00adi\u00adtary pur\u00adpos\u00ades until the end of the Sec\u00adond World War. Today it is just a&nbsp;look\u00adout tow\u00ader.
