Stone cross\u00ades were erect\u00aded in the late Mid\u00addle Ages for peo\u00adple who had died sud\u00adden\u00adly and unpre\u00adpared (with\u00adout last rites). The major\u00adi\u00adty of these stone cross\u00ades are for\u00admer mur\u00adder and atone\u00adment cross\u00ades, which were erect\u00aded in mem\u00ado\u00adry of a&nbsp;per\u00adson who had been killed or died in an accident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>All three stones are made of sand\u00adstone. A&nbsp;tan\u00adning iron is carved on the back of two of the stones, while a&nbsp;blade from a&nbsp;thrust\u00ading weapon can be seen on the third cross. A&nbsp;sim\u00adple depic\u00adtion of a<br>bell with a&nbsp;clap\u00adper can be seen in the head of the ful\u00adly pre\u00adserved cross.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Accord\u00ading to a&nbsp;leg\u00adend about the stones, a&nbsp;bell founder from Stol\u00adberg killed his jour\u00adney\u00adman<br>here because the lat\u00adter was bet\u00adter at cast\u00ading bells than he&nbsp;was.<\/p>\n\n<p>From Steigerthal, you can reach the Glock\u00aden\u00adsteine via the \u201cSchwarz\u00ader Weg\u201d, which is sign\u00adpost\u00aded with a&nbsp;blue cross, after a&nbsp;short hike, which you should con\u00adtin\u00adue to the \u201cHel\u00admet\u00adal\u00adblick\u201d view\u00adpoint.
