This law was also fol\u00adlowed here in the Harz Moun\u00adtains when the monastery ded\u00adi\u00adcat\u00aded to St. Michael the Archangel was&nbsp;built.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>As at the time of its foun\u00adda\u00adtion (1146), Michael\u00adstein is still sit\u00adu\u00adat\u00aded away from the urban life of Blanken\u00adburg in an idyl\u00adlic loca\u00adtion on the edge of the Harz Moun\u00adtains. It expe\u00adri\u00adenced a&nbsp;long peri\u00adod of eco\u00adnom\u00adic pros\u00adper\u00adi\u00adty in the Mid\u00addle Ages and its abbots were repeat\u00aded\u00adly called upon by the popes to car\u00adry out eccle\u00adsi\u00adas\u00adti\u00adcal mis\u00adsions. Even back then, fish farm\u00ading was car\u00adried out in the spe\u00adcial\u00adly cre\u00adat\u00aded&nbsp;ponds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The last Catholic abbot resigned in 1543. The Counts of Blanken\u00adburg estab\u00adlished a&nbsp;monastery school, which con\u00adtin\u00adued to exist even after the Dukes of Brunswick took over. At the begin\u00adning of the 18th cen\u00adtu\u00adry, Duke Lud\u00adwig-Rudolf had exten\u00adsive build\u00ading work car\u00adried out and estab\u00adlished a&nbsp;sem\u00adi\u00adnary for preachers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>After the French for\u00adeign rule, Michael\u00adstein only had eco\u00adnom\u00adic func\u00adtions, which the monastery estate retained under var\u00adi\u00adous legal enti\u00adties even after the so-called land reform.<\/p>\n\n<p>Today, the Sax\u00adony-Anhalt Music Acad\u00ade\u00admy for Edu\u00adca\u00adtion and Per\u00adfor\u00admance Prac\u00adtice is based here. The monastery offers a&nbsp;rich pro\u00adgram of events and is a&nbsp;pop\u00adu\u00adlar excur\u00adsion des\u00adti\u00adna\u00adtion on the Romanesque Road.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kloster-michaelstein.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael\u00adstein Monastery&nbsp;\u201d<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>In 1880, a&nbsp;trout, char and loach farm was set up at the monastery, which is still run pri\u00advate\u00adly today. A&nbsp;stop at the \u201cKloster\u00adfis\u00adch\u00ader\u201d restau\u00adrant or the small \u201cWan\u00adder\u00adgast\u00adst\u00e4tte\u201d with fish shop is high\u00adly recommended.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.klosterfischer.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Monastery fish\u00ader\u00admen \u201d<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Park\u00ading spaces are avail\u00adable at the monastery, from where you can start the hike through the monastery grounds to the stamp box.
