Selken\u00adfelde is explic\u00adit\u00adly referred to as a \u201cvil\u00adla\u201d, which means village.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>In 1203, Emper\u00ador Otto IV gave the vil\u00adlage of Stiege, and with it Selken\u00adfelde, to Count Siegfried von Blanken\u00adburg as a&nbsp;fief in return for mil\u00adi\u00adtary assis\u00adtance. In 1209\/27, the vil\u00adlage is again men\u00adtioned in Count Siegfried\u2019s list of goods as \u201cvil\u00adla que dic\u00adi\u00adtur Seleken\u00advelde\u201d. Until the end of the 14th cen\u00adtu\u00adry, the vil\u00adlage com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adty still had its own local priest. From the 15th cen\u00adtu\u00adry onwards, there are no more doc\u00adu\u00admen\u00adtary men\u00adtions of the vil\u00adlage. It can there\u00adfore be assumed that it was already desert\u00aded around 1500.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>To the north-east, the mod\u00adern defense sys\u00adtem \u201cSelken\u00adfelder-Schanze\u201d was built by the Prus\u00adsians dur\u00ading the \u201cSev\u00aden Years\u2019 War\u201d in 1760. It is worth fol\u00adlow\u00ading the sign\u00adpost \u201cKanonen\u00adplatz\u201d on the B&nbsp;242 and tak\u00ading a&nbsp;look at this recon\u00adstruct\u00aded defen\u00adsive structure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The munic\u00adi\u00adpal employ\u00adment com\u00adpa\u00adny of the Harz dis\u00adtrict rebuilt the facil\u00adi\u00adty in 2013&nbsp;in co\u00f6per\u00ada\u00adtion with the Low\u00ader Mon\u00adu\u00adment Author\u00adi\u00adty, the Ober\u00adharz forestry com\u00adpa\u00adny and AFG&nbsp;Harz.<\/p>\n\n<p>We rec\u00adom\u00admend the park\u00ading lot at the \u201cAlbrecht\u00adshaus\u201d stop as a&nbsp;start\u00ading point.
