The hiking trail through the Eckerloch is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Harz Mountains.&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-image alignwide stk-block-image stk-block stk-89e1006\" data-block-id=\"89e1006\"><style>.stk-89e1006 {margin-top:3% !important;margin-bottom:3% !important;}<\/style><figure><span class=\"stk-img-wrapper stk-image--shape-stretch stk--has-lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Eckerloch-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Eckerloch-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Eckerloch-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Eckerloch-1-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\"><\/span><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p>The his\u00adto\u00adry of Eck\u00ader\u00adlochschanze begins in the ear\u00adly 1920s, when the peo\u00adple of Schierk gave up the south-fac\u00ading ski jump on Erd\u00adbeerkopf and looked for a&nbsp;place for a&nbsp;new, snow-safe ski&nbsp;jump.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Eck\u00ader\u00adloch was giv\u00aden to them in 1923 by the Stol\u00adberg Werniger\u00f6d Cham\u00adber of Princes for the con\u00adstruc\u00adtion of a&nbsp;ski jump, and in the years that fol\u00adlowed it was one of the most renowned ski jumps in the Harz Mountains.<\/p>\n\n<p>In 1950, the first GDR ski jump\u00ading cham\u00adpi\u00adonships were held there after it had been rebuilt in 1949. At the same time, it was named the \u201cSchanze der Ein\u00adheit\u201d (uni\u00adty ski&nbsp;jump).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly, as time went on, the polit\u00adi\u00adcal devel\u00adop\u00adments in Ger\u00admany at the time did not allow for uni\u00adty and with the erec\u00adtion of the Berlin Wall in 1961 and the inevitable divi\u00adsion of Ger\u00admany, their fate was sealed.<\/p>\n\n<p>Due to its loca\u00adtion in the imme\u00addi\u00adate bor\u00adder restrict\u00aded area of the GDR, it was no longer allowed to be used, fell into dis\u00adre\u00adpair over time and was final\u00adly demol\u00adished in the&nbsp;1970s.<\/p>\n\n<p>From Schierke, first fol\u00adlow the Brock\u00aden\u00adstra\u00dfe until the Eck\u00ader\u00adlochstieg branch\u00ades off to the right at a&nbsp;small water\u00adworks.
