On the steep face of the Sach\u00adsen\u00adstein cliffs, which tow\u00ader far above the land\u00adscape, you have a&nbsp;good view of Bad Sach\u00adsa and the sur\u00adround\u00ading karst landscape.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The name comes from the war\u00adlike con\u00adflicts between the Franks and Sax\u00adons that took place here in the 6th cen\u00adtu\u00adry. The vic\u00adto\u00adri\u00adous Sax\u00adons built their first hill fort on the Sach\u00adsen\u00adstein. After the end of the Sax\u00adon Wars under Charle\u00admagne at the end of the 8th cen\u00adtu\u00adry, the Sach\u00adsen\u00adburg lost its importance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>In 1065, King Hen\u00adry IV had anoth\u00ader cas\u00adtle built on the Sach\u00adsen\u00adstein, but it was destroyed in 1074.
