Spe\u00adcial ani\u00admal species include the eagle owl and the still numer\u00adous fire sala\u00adman\u00adders. In the fall, flocks of migra\u00adto\u00adry birds invade the Itel reed&nbsp;beds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Due to the numer\u00adous ani\u00admal species that use dead and old trees, beech trees in par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar remain stand\u00ading far beyond their forestry age.<\/p>\n\n<p>The rail\u00adroad line between Walken\u00adried and Ell\u00adrich was built in 1868. It was decid\u00aded to tun\u00adnel under the \u201cHim\u00admel\u00adre\u00adich\u201d, a&nbsp;gyp\u00adsum mas\u00adsif in the heav\u00adi\u00adly kars\u00adti\u00adfied Wer\u00adra anhy\u00addrite. A&nbsp;very large cave was dis\u00adcov\u00adered on July 9, 1868 dur\u00ading the exca\u00adva\u00adtion of the tun\u00adnel. The cav\u00adi\u00adty essen\u00adtial\u00adly con\u00adsists of a&nbsp;hall 182&nbsp;m&nbsp;long and 15&nbsp;m&nbsp;high. The rail\u00adroad tun\u00adnel was built direct\u00adly into this cave hall and cov\u00adered sev\u00ader\u00adal meters high to pre\u00advent it from falling out of the cave ceiling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The Hex\u00aden\u00adtanz\u00adplatz, locat\u00aded above this rail\u00adroad tun\u00adnel, is a&nbsp;for\u00admer cul\u00adtur\u00adal site of the Chat\u00adten, which was chris\u00adtened \u201cHim\u00admel\u00adre\u00adich\u201d by the monks of the Walken\u00adried monastery.<\/p>\n\n<p>The best start\u00ading point for a&nbsp;hike to Hex\u00aden\u00adtanz\u00adplatz Ell\u00adrich is the free park\u00ading lot at Walken\u00adried Monastery.
