It pro\u00adtects a&nbsp;pre\u00addom\u00adi\u00adnant\u00adly wood\u00aded area with var\u00adi\u00adous biotope types. Pri\u00admar\u00adi\u00adly, there are near-nat\u00adur\u00adal decid\u00adu\u00adous for\u00adest com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties and for\u00admer mid\u00addle forests with a&nbsp;high pro\u00adpor\u00adtion of old and dead wood, includ\u00ading bed\u00adstraw oak-horn\u00adbeam for\u00adest, horn\u00adbeam for\u00adest and alder for\u00adest com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adties. Spring areas and near-nat\u00adur\u00adal stream val\u00adleys can be found in the for\u00adest&nbsp;areas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>It is no coin\u00adci\u00addence that many paths meet in a&nbsp;star shape at the umbrel\u00adla, but in 1728 Prince Vic\u00adtor Friedrich had a&nbsp;hunt\u00ading track laid out between Bal\u00adlen\u00adst\u00adedt and \u201cBre\u00admer Teich\u201d HWN 196 for the then pop\u00adu\u00adlar par force hunt. At select\u00aded points, there were hunt\u00ading lodges or cov\u00adered hunt\u00ading seats, which were called \u201cumbrel\u00adlas\u201d. <\/p>\n\n<p>From Bal\u00adlen\u00adst\u00adedt Cas\u00adtle Park, a&nbsp;beau\u00adti\u00adful path leads across the Amt\u00admann Val\u00adley, past the R\u00f6hrte\u00adich pond and across wet mead\u00adows strung togeth\u00ader like a&nbsp;string of pearls to the \u201cArmer Hein\u00adrich\u201d atone\u00adment cross. After the atone\u00adment cross, the sign\u00adpost\u00aded path branch\u00ades off to the right to the stamp\u00ading station.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Folk\u00adlore tells the fol\u00adlow\u00ading leg\u00adend about \u201cPoor Hen\u00adry\u201d: Dur\u00ading his life\u00adtime, he is said to have been a&nbsp;beg\u00adgar, usu\u00adal\u00adly trav\u00adel\u00ading between the mar\u00adkets in Bal\u00adlen\u00adst\u00adedt and Harzgerode. One day he was found dead in this place. To his great sur\u00adprise, many pieces of gold were sewn into the lin\u00ading of his jack\u00adet.
