It con\u00adsists of the approx. 200&nbsp;m&nbsp;long \u201cGreat Lauen\u00adburg\u201d and the approx. 50&nbsp;m&nbsp;long \u201cSmall Lauen\u00adburg\u201d, which is to be regard\u00aded as the out\u00ader bai\u00adley. It was once the largest cas\u00adtle com\u00adplex in the Harz region, a&nbsp;Salian impe\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal cas\u00adtle which, like the Harzburg, was prob\u00ada\u00adbly built under HEINRICH IV (1050\u20131106). In 1165 it went to HEINRICH THE LION, who had to hand it back to Bar\u00adbarossa in 1180. In 1267, it was tak\u00aden over by the Mar\u00adgrave of Bran\u00adden\u00adburg and giv\u00aden as a&nbsp;fief to the Counts of Regen\u00adstein until it was final\u00adly con\u00adquered and restored under the Bish\u00adop of Hal\u00adber\u00adstadt, ALBRECHT III (1366\u20131390). After its lat\u00ader use as a&nbsp;quar\u00adry, it fell into Pruss\u00adian state own\u00ader\u00adship in&nbsp;1897.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>From the obser\u00adva\u00adtion tow\u00ader of the out\u00ader bai\u00adley, you have a&nbsp;beau\u00adti\u00adful view of the Dev\u00adil\u2019s Wall near Wed\u00adder\u00adsleben and the Harz fore\u00adland.
