It orig\u00adi\u00adnal\u00adly belonged to the Count of Scharzfeld, whose fam\u00adi\u00adly ruled in and around Scharzfeld until the end of the 13th cen\u00adtu\u00adry. The cas\u00adtle was lat\u00ader inhab\u00adit\u00aded by the Counts of Hohn\u00adstein before final\u00adly being tak\u00aden over by the Duchy of Gruben\u00adhagen in&nbsp;1593.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a&nbsp;ten-day siege by 6,000 to 11,000 men of the French gen\u00ader\u00adal Vaube\u00adcourt, Scharzfels Cas\u00adtle had to be hand\u00aded over to him in 1761, was set on fire and final\u00adly blown up.
