{"id":16352,"date":"2016-02-19T14:02:49","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T13:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/stamping-point-146-large-weir\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T14:46:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T13:46:19","slug":"stamping-point-146-large-weir","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/en\/stamping-points\/overview-map\/stamping-point-146-large-weir\/","title":{"rendered":"Stamping point 146 \/ Large&nbsp;weir"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The \u201cGro\u00dfe Wehr\u201d is located between the Hammerstein cliff at the Stieglitzecke and the \u201cSperberhaier Dammhaus\u201d and is the beginning of the \u201cMorgenbrodtsthalergraben\u201d.<\/h2>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-image alignwide stk-block-image stk-block stk-89e1006\" data-block-id=\"89e1006\"><style>.stk-89e1006 {margin-top:3% !important;margin-bottom:3% !important;}<\/style><figure><span class=\"stk-img-wrapper stk-image--shape-stretch stk--has-lightbox\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gro\u00dfes-Wehr.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-post-image\" alt srcset=\"https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gro\u00dfes-Wehr.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gro\u00dfes-Wehr-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gro\u00dfes-Wehr-250x188.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.harzer-wandernadel.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Gro\u00dfes-Wehr-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\"><\/span><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p>The Mor\u00adgen\u00adbrodt\u00adstha\u00adler\u00adgraben has a&nbsp;length of 4.1&nbsp;km, is fed by the Gro\u00dfe S\u00f6se and the Mor\u00adgen\u00adbrodts\u00adbach and car\u00adries the water to the Dammgraben.<\/p>\n\n<p>The con\u00adstruc\u00adtion of the \u201cSper\u00adber\u00adhaier Damm\u201d, the large Harz aque\u00adduct (1732\/1734), made it pos\u00adsi\u00adble to use the water from the Mor\u00adgen\u00adbrodt\u00adsthaler Graben, which had already been opened up in 1715, for ore min\u00ading in the Dorothea and Car\u00ado\u00adline&nbsp;mines.<\/p>\n\n<p>How\u00adev\u00ader, the ditch is actu\u00adal\u00adly too high, as it was assumed when it was built that the Sper\u00adber\u00adhaier Damm would be about 8 \u2014 10&nbsp;m&nbsp;high\u00ader than it was lat\u00ader. For this rea\u00adson, the slope of the ditch near the dam house is unusu\u00adal\u00adly steep at 11.5&nbsp;% over a&nbsp;dis\u00adtance of approx. 130&nbsp;m.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>A good start\u00ading point is the Sper\u00adber\u00adhaier Dammhaus, which was built at the same time as the dam of the same name on the Damm\u00adgraben, and was orig\u00adi\u00adnal\u00adly built for the min\u00aders, who used it as a&nbsp;chang\u00ading room and prayer house. It was lat\u00ader used as a&nbsp;ser\u00advice dwelling for the ditch keep\u00ader before being con\u00advert\u00aded into a&nbsp;pop\u00adu\u00adlar restau\u00adrant for excur\u00adsions.
