Since 1870, the Oder Val\u00adley and the forests around the cat\u00adtle shed have been the sum\u00admer pas\u00adture of the brown Harz cat\u00adtle herd.<br>While the dairy cat\u00adtle from the moun\u00adtain town were dri\u00adven to the for\u00adest pas\u00adtures in the morn\u00ading and back to their home sta\u00adbles in the evening, the herds\u00admen and young cat\u00adtle stayed down here in the val\u00adley through\u00adout the sum\u00admer months. The \u201cRinder\u00adstall\u201d build\u00ading served as a&nbsp;home for the shep\u00adherd and as a&nbsp;sta\u00adble for the cat\u00adtle. The shep\u00adherd\u2019s fam\u00adi\u00adly also kept a&nbsp;few cows in a&nbsp;sep\u00ada\u00adrate sec\u00adtion of the barn for their own use and to pro\u00advide a&nbsp;fresh milk drink for pass\u00ading hik\u00aders. They were always wel\u00adcome here, and soon there were more hik\u00aders than cat\u00adtle to feed on some days.<br>So it\u2019s no won\u00adder that the cat\u00adtle shed became a&nbsp;hik\u00ading inn as ear\u00adly as the 1950s.<br>In the course of its exis\u00adtence, the cat\u00adtle shed changed its face quite invol\u00adun\u00adtar\u00adi\u00adly, as it burned down com\u00adplete\u00adly twice, once in 1903 and most recent\u00adly in 1985. Since 1986, it has pre\u00adsent\u00aded itself in its cur\u00adrent splendour.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gaststaette-rinderstall.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Restau\u00adrant Rinderstall<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>The best start\u00ading point is the park\u00ading lot at the Oder\u00adhaus at the junc\u00adtion from the B&nbsp;27 to St. Andreas\u00adberg.
