The paved path, which is also used by many cyclists, leads through the nature reserve and allows you to mar\u00advel at the unique flo\u00adra and&nbsp;fauna.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The Selke Val\u00adley is home to the largest known tree-nest\u00ading swift pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion in Ger\u00admany, but it is also the habi\u00adtat of the wild\u00adcat. Above the val\u00adley there are many near-nat\u00adur\u00adal decid\u00adu\u00adous forests, but grass\u00adland used for graz\u00ading or mow\u00ading pre\u00addom\u00adi\u00adnates on the val\u00adley floor. Reedbeds and wil\u00adlow bush\u00ades line the banks, where dip\u00adpers and king\u00adfish\u00aders also&nbsp;breed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>A good start\u00ading point is the pub\u00adlic park\u00ading lot on the avenue in Meis\u00addorf. From there, walk along the Selke riv\u00ader to the refuge, which is locat\u00aded below the Met\u00adten\u00adberg.
