From 1830, he was head of the High\u00ader Forestry Col\u00adlege in Eber\u00adswalde and pub\u00adlished 24 books and 700 forestry treatises.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Despite his numer\u00adous pub\u00adli\u00adca\u00adtions and his knowl\u00adedge of all the spe\u00adcial\u00adist forestry lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adture of the time, Pfeil placed the keen \u201cobser\u00adva\u00adtion of nature\u201d and learn\u00ading to see above all the\u00ado\u00adret\u00adi\u00adcal knowl\u00adedge: \u201cThe lack of obser\u00adva\u00adtion can nev\u00ader be replaced by mere speculation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>This led him to his famous max\u00adim: \u201cAsk the trees how they want to be raised, they will teach you bet\u00adter than the&nbsp;books.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>Near\u00adby is the Damm\u00adbach\u00adhaus, the for\u00admer hunt\u00ading res\u00adi\u00addence of Crown Prince Wil\u00adhelm of Prus\u00adsia. In social\u00adist times, it was also used by head of state Erich Honeck\u00ader as a&nbsp;hunt\u00ading lodge.
